Back home with new eyes!

The beauty of the Ohio countryside had become blurred through familiarity and now I'm seeing it with new eyes after living on the southern coast of Maine for 6 years. It's a more subtle beauty, more utilitarian in its origin than spectacular. I can't get enough of this visual feast, this juncture that is summer where the endless openness of acres and acres of corn under a ceiling of towering cumulous clouds rising endlessly higher and higher into the skies all meet. The colors are intense and shimmering in the humid air: the verdant green of the crops, the cotton whites of the clouds, the impossible blue of the sky, and on one particular bend of Route 31: the stop sign red roof of a small white church! So different from the staid white churches of New England, where the really aesthetically brave ones are trimmed out in dark green!

New vision, new inspiration, new photos, new art work and very soon a new blog and web site! It's currently under construction: p x a r t i s t _ . c o m (Just eliminate the underscore and spaces.)
